toM. Cruise won an honorary Oscar at the 16th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday night, November 16, and gave an impassioned speech that lavished praise on his Hollywood collaborators and the art of film, declaring: “It’s not my job to make movies, it’s who I am.”

The A-lister added: “I will always do my best to help this art (…) I hope there are no more fractures.”
Cruise paid tribute to the night’s other honorees, production designer Wynne Thomas, choreographer, actor and producer Debbie Allen, and 2025 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award recipient Dolly Parton, who was unable to attend due to health issues.
