In Week 8, the Jacksonville Jaguars were given a bye. The team traveled to London last week to play against the Los Angeles Rams. They lost that game 35-7 and are now 4-3 on the season.
Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter had the best performance of his career in Week 7 against the Rams, despite the loss. He had a career-high eight catches, 101 receiving yards, and a touchdown. Unfortunately, Jaguars fans were hit with some terrible injury news on Friday. Travis Hunter injured his knee during practice on Thursday. Head coach Liam Cohen announced that Hunter has been placed on IR and will miss at least four games.

Jacksonville had the No. 5 overall pick heading into the 2025 NFL Draft in April. However, general manager James Gladstone made a huge trade with the Browns. Cleveland had the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. Gladstone traded a 2025 first-round pick to the Browns, giving them a 2025 fourth-round pick and Jacksonville’s 2026 first-round pick. The Jaguars acquired the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft through a trade, allowing them to select fellow prospect Travis Hunter.
The 22-year-old was one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft class. Hunter was a star at the college level and won the Heisman Trophy in his final season. During his college days, Travis Hunter played on both teams at the University of Colorado. He played full-time as a WR and CB. A lot of people expect that from Hunter in the NFL, but he’s mostly used on offense. Through seven games, Hunter played in 67% of Jacksonville’s offensive snaps.

Additionally, Hunter was on the field for 36% of the team’s defensive snaps. Travis Hunter had 28 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown. He also had 15 total tackles, three passes defensed, and one fumble recovery. Travis Hunter injured his knee during Thursday’s practice. Head coach Liam Cohen announced Friday that he had placed Hunter on IR.
Hunter will miss at least the next four games in Jacksonville. The earliest he can return is Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans. By then, Hunter will have been out for more than a month with the Jaguars. That’s because this injury happened at an unfortunate time, right after the bye week. The Jaguars will need players like Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington to step up while Hunter is out. Tight end Brenton Strange is also currently on IR and will be eligible to return in Week 11. Can Jacksonville’s offense survive without Hunter?
