She’s created ’80s-inspired colors, Y2K-style poufs, and chic ’90s styles, but as it turns out, Cardi B really can refer to any era and make it look incredibly convincing. When the “Enough (Miami)” star appeared in the final game of the NBA’s Eastern Conference playoffs, her romantic reunion with estranged husband Offset wasn’t the only thing that made headlines. There, on the court at the April 30 event, Cardi B’s tiny fringe gave her entire look the coolest retro feel, further cementing her position as one of the decade’s most prominent beauty stars.
Cardi gave her fans and followers a sneak peek of the look on her Instagram Stories, where she briefly shared the styling process before appearing with Offset at Up-to-date York’s Madison Square Garden. Due to the extreme length and distinct cut, her hair is likely a short-lived piece or wig, but the bangs suit her incredibly well. She shared that the front pieces were tamped down with a pair of flat blade clamps that prevent unwanted grooves and bumps. The hair is long and neatly trimmed – which makes it look particularly fresh – with a set of blunt bangs ending just before the gently arched eyebrows.
The pronounced length of the fringe immediately reminded many viewers of the close-cropped cuts often worn by 1950s pin-up models such as the legendary Bettie Page with her eminent fringe. Although Cardi’s pair is not that tiny, the rounded nature and observable eyebrows are in line with the retro trend.
Interestingly, despite their extreme appearance, shorter bangs are becoming an increasingly popular style among stars. Some, like Olivia Rodrigo, Zendaya, Kylie Jenner, choose a more punk, more aggressive look. Still other A-listers, including Zoë Kravitz and Beyoncé, channel vintage style with their brow-baring bangs.

Always a fan of bold hairstyles and innovative fashion choices, it was only a matter of time before Cardi B discovered the micro-bang trend herself. He looks so good that we hope he keeps it going beyond the NBA Finals.
