On September 17, the federal court of appeals refused to block the plan block by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in order to overhaul the department in line with Trump administration’s policy priorities.
The 19 state attorney general and the District of Columbia challenged Kennedy’s HHS restructuring, including layoffs and restructuring of several agencies, filing lawsuits claiming the changes were in violation of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.
