San Francisco walked with the Seahawks with a 17-13 victory from the first week of the 2025 season. However, two starters have long-term injuries, which has had a major impact on the team.
Earlier this week, NFL Insiders reported that All-Pro Te George Kittle was placed in IR. He suffered from hamstring tension in the first week. Jauan Jennings suffered a shoulder injury but is expected to return soon. However, San Francisco was hit with news of tough injuries ahead of their second week of matchup. The QB Brock Purdy starts with grass toes and is out on the 49ers for at least 2-5 weeks. It’s fortune after an unfortunate injury at the beginning of the year.

The 49ers will not be able to take a break in just one week until the 2025 NFL season. The team will not only start TE in week two, but also miss the service that will start QB Brock Purdy. On Wednesday, coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy was a “long shot” playing Week 2 and the Saints. As of Thursday morning, reports regarding Purdy had not improved. NFL Insider reported that Purdy handles turf toe variants.
NFL network’s Ian Rapoport said Purdy is expected to miss 2-5 weeks. So Brock Purdy will have at least two San Francisco games. He misses Week 2 and Saints and Week 3 and Cardinals. Purdy could miss more time depending on how quickly he recovers. It’s not ideal for the 49ers to start a new season.

Purdy came out this Sunday with The Saints and The Backup QB Mac Jones launching their first game in San Francisco. This offseason, Jones landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the 49ers a year later. Jones was his 15th pick in the Patriots’ 2021 NFL Draft. Over three seasons, Jones played in 42 games and got off to a 42 start in New England.
After Trevor Lawrence suffered a season-ending injury in 2024, Jones began his final seven weeks for the Jaguars. He went 2-5 as Jacksonville starter. Now he has another opportunity to start at least two consecutive games for the 49ers. Brocky Purdy is out for grass toes. Can McJones make San Francisco’s offense run smoothly while Purdy misses time? His first test is Road vs Saint this Sunday.
