If you missed the Parisio Philosophy, which will stop the 2024 show, you’re in luck. The next chance to take part in the Olympics in Europe is around the corner. Plans for Milan Cortina for winter 2026 are already in full swing, but it’s never too late to secure your ticket and start your trip. The fourth game in Italy (following the 1956 Winter Olympics at Cortina d’Ampezzo, the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin) and the first game in Milan are expected to be unattractive.

Set against the backdrop of dramatic Italian landscapes, including snowy Dolomite and historic cities like Milan and Verona, fans can expect the 17-day event to be not only incredible athletic talent, but also experience being tailored to the clouds of both sports and travel.

Are you ready to hit the slopes (or soak in the gorgeous Aplesky vibe) along with the world’s most passionate fans, athletes and travelers? Here’s how to plan your trip to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics:

When will the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics be held?

Officially, the 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 6th to 22nd, 2026. However, the Curl event will begin on February 4th, with some ice hockey and snowboarding events starting on February 5th.

Where is the game played?

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be the first game with two host cities: Milan and Cortina.

The opening ceremony will be held in Milan on February 6th, 2026 at San Siro, Italy’s largest stadium. The event will spread to two regions in northern Italy (Lombardy and Veneto) and several cities in northern Italy, including Cortina d’Ampezzo (aka Cortina) in the dolomite and Barterina in the Alps. Sporting events are distributed across sites as follows:

  • Milan: Figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating, short track speed skating, para-ice hockey
  • CortinaD’Ampezzo: Women’s Alpine Ski, Bobsled, Luge, Skeleton, Curling, Paralympic Alpine Ski, Paralympic Snowboarding, Wheelchair Curling
  • Bormio: Men’s skiing and skiing climbing at alpine mountains
  • anterselva: Biaslon
  • livigno: Freestyle skiing and snowboarding
  • Predazzo: Ski Jump and Nordic Combined (Jump Event)
  • Tessero: Cross-country skiing, Nordic combined (cross-country skiing), Paralympic biathlon, Paralympic cross-country skiing

For the first time since 1984, the closing ceremony will be set in a different venue. Arena di Verona, the Roman amphitheater several centuries ago, is located in the city of Verona, two thousand years ago, best known as the Shakespeare setting. Romeo and Juliet.

Together, these venues have grown over approximately 8,500 square miles, making them one of the most widely popular winter Olympics geographically. One reason for the event is so widespread is that the hosts have chosen to reuse their existing venues (rather than building a new site just for the game).

Meanwhile, the Winter Paralympics will begin at Arena Di Verona, while the closing ceremony will be held at Cortina Carling Stadium.

What kind of events will be held?

Over 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete in 22 events at the 2026 Olympics and Paralympics (including 16 and 6 areas, respectively). All of them will have 195 medal events, with 245 gold, silver and bronze medals being awarded at the Olympics and 137 medals being awarded at the Paralympics. Crowd favourites include figure skating, snowboarding, ski jumping, bob threading, cross-country skiing, luge and ice hockey. (It’s the first time in 12 years that NHL players can compete. Their return promises a top-tier hockey drama.) Additionally, ski climbing is set to debut their Olympic debut (with men’s sprints, women’s sprints and mixed relays). There are also newly expanded events, including dual moguls for men and women, double luges for women, and big hilski jumps for women.

How to book a ticket

Want to secure your spot? Official tickets for the 2026 Winter Olympics (which have been on sale since January 2025) can be purchased on the Olympics website. For the Paralympics, the price is between 15 and 80 euros. At the opening ceremony of the Olympics, prices range from 260 to 2,026 euros, while the closing ceremony ranges from 950 to 2,900 euros. (At the Paralympics, it costs 100-650 euros, and 150-350 euros, respectively.)
