On the ninth pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Bills chose Ed Oliver from Houston. The 27-year-old is in his seventh season with Buffalo. Oliver played in 93 games and started 84 in his career. He is a full-time starter for the Buffalo Chic for the 2020 season. His best season with the Bills came in 2023 when he lost a career-high 9.5 sacks, one intercept, 51 combined tackles and 14 tackles. Oliver has a total of 28.0 sacks in seven years with the team.
Ed Oliver got off to a strong start in the first week of the 2025 season. He finished the game with six tackles, one bag and one forced fumble. The veteran defensive lineman played the biggest game when he forced Derrick Henry to fumble. It was Oliver’s first week’s performance. Unfortunately, Ed Oliver appeared in the bill’s injury report.

Head coach Sean McDermott announced that Ed Oliver suffered an ankle injury. Not only will he miss Week 2 and the Jets, but Oliver could miss Buffalo’s multiple games. His feet were stomped in practice and Oliver was seen in walking boots Thursday. It’s not something Bills fans want to hear about this early in the season.
Ed Oliver’s injury comes when the bill is already dealing with injuries with defensive tackles. DeWayne Carter’s season ended after torn his Achilles tendon in late August. Additionally, Larry Ogunjobi has been suspended in the first six games of the season to use PED. TJ Sanders and Deone Walker will need to step up and produce the bill in the meantime. The team hopes Ed Oliver can recover quickly from an ankle injury.
