To begin the 2025 season, Packers WR Christian Watson is unable to physically run (PUP) lists. He is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in the 18th week of 2024.
That means he’s out at least Green Bay’s first four games. Despite Watson missing out on time, he is still part of Green Bay’s plan. On Tuesday, NFL Insiders announced that Watson has signed a one-year, $13.25 million contract with the Packers. He is currently signing with the team throughout the 2026 season.

On the second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Packers chose North Dakota WR Christian Watson. For over three years at Green Bay, Watson has not played a full season yet. The young WR had a handful of long-term injuries. 15 games in 2024 were Christian Watson’s career-highs. He started all 15 games he played for Green Bay.
During the team’s final game of the 2024 season, Christian Watson suffered an ACL injury. He fought all offseasons and was ready for week one. However, Watson was not ready for Green Bay’s season opening game. The 26-year-old has joined the PUP list to start 2025. Watson misses at least the first four games of the season. Despite not being able to start the year, the team rewarded Watson with a new contract.

He officially signed a one-year, $13.25 million contract with the Packers. Watson has signed with the Packers throughout the 2026 season. You can see how effective Watson will be when he returns to the lineup. The most productive season of his career was his rookie year in 2022. It was also Aaron Rodgers’ final season with Green Bay. Watson had 611 reception yards along with a career-high 41 receptions and seven touchdowns.
To improve the WR core this offseason, the Packers did something that wasn’t over 20 years. Green Bay selected Matthew Golden from Texas using the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Golden started in the Packers week one, with two catches for 16 yards. Jaden Reed had three catches and a touchdown for 45 yards. Romeo Doubs led all the pass catchers for 68 yards. With no true dominant WR in the locker room, Green shows that he can adapt to the passing game. Christian Watson becomes another weapon at his disposal when he returns from a knee injury.
