While speaking at the White House, Donald Trump said he wanted to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un again.
Trump told reporters: “I want to see him this year… I look forward to meeting with UN Kim Jong in a proper future. I want to have a meeting. I did well with him,” President Trump said. “I think we can do something in that respect,” he said, adding that he wants to help two South Korean relations. Trump and Kim held three meetings during Trump’s first term between 2018 and 2019, exchanging several letters the president called “beautiful” letters. According to Go to Sky News.
Trump and Lee held their first meeting in a tense situation. Trump later reported that after submitting vague complaints about South Korea’s “purging or revolution” on social media, he returned them as likely “misunderstanding” between allies. North Korea’s rhetoric has increased, and Kim pledged to speed up his nuclear program and condemn the joint military training between the US and South Korea. Over the weekend, Kim oversaw a test fire to the new air defense system, the Guardian It has been reported.
Kim ignored Trump
Since Trump’s inauguration in January, Kim has ignored Trump’s repeated calls to revive the direct diplomacy he pursued from 2017 to 2021, where he has not signed a deal to halt North Korea’s nuclear program. In the oval office, Lee avoided the theatrical conflict that ruled a February visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and ruled a visit from South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
When the leaders met, liberal Koreans encouraged Trump to engage with North Korea. “I hope that we can bring peace to the South Korean Peninsula, the only divided nation in the world, so we can meet up with Kim Jong-un, build the Trump World (Realtate Complex) in North Korea, where we can play golf.
Money Making Machine
“When you took office in your first semester, the situation on the Korean Peninsula was stable, but during the brief break when you left your job, North Korea developed more nuclear missile capabilities, which led to worsening the situation,” Lee told Trump. According to To the Washington Examiner.
South Korea’s economy is heavily dependent on the United States, and Washington assumes security between its military and nuclear deterrence. Trump calls Seoul a “money machine” that uses American military protection.
