A First Look: United’s Newly Reopened Denver Airport Lounge

Denver International Airport, a convergence of business flyers with Colorado locals, active vacationers and business flyers heading to national and global destinations, cut the ribbon on July 31 to cut its ribbons in a 33,000-square-foot lounge at Concourse B.

The space, which was closed since 2023 for a top-to-bottom renovation, will reopen the moment Denver becomes an important hub for the airline. Over the past two years, United have expanded and refreshed everything at the airport’s United Club, creating more than 100,000 square feet of lounge space in four locations, with plenty of seating for over 1,600 guests.

For travelers, that means more room to eat, drink and grow before boarding. For United, it is a visible marker of the growing advantage of his Denver career. Other airlines will not fly from Mile High City to more destinations. Over 550 departures daily bring an average of over 180 destinations in 45 states and 11 countries. United operates 90 gates leading the airport in Den.

Over the next few years, United will be opening a Polaris lounge in Denver. Denver is a project currently in the design phase and has not yet been announced.

Here’s what you’d find inside United’s latest airport lounges in Denver:

space

United aims to channel the Colorado Mountain Lodge Vibe, but with a light touch, it does so, with design details such as subtle blue plaid carpets and steam fireplaces.

Guests will scan their boarding pass to access the lounge and then go up to the third floor via the escalator (the main terminal is the second). The lounge is located on the 3rd and 4th floors, but the amenities and seating areas are roughly the same at each level.

The entire space comes with a variety of seating options, including bistro chairs around two-top tables, bar chairs along high-top tables, cafe-style booths and wide leather lounge chairs overlooking tarmacs. With seating for over 600 guests, it is one of the largest lounges in the network, so it should help spread the footprint of visitors. When I was there on August 15th it was easy to find a place to work and the overall lounge was quiet. All seats have convenient charging ports within reach.

The biggest difference between the two floors is the artwork. United collaborated with Nine Dot Arts, a Denver-based curation company that sourced artwork for many city boutique hotels such as Maven and Catbird, to source work from local artists. All of the works have natural themes, including a large painting by Ratasha Green, featuring the wild flowers of the region, and a multi-wall mural by Will Barker, depicting a horse-riding rancher in a vast river valley. The group also created a mix of hiking guides and books on cowboy culture (which guests can read quickly) and props such as a dining room, binoculars and worn leather boots.

The bathroom has wallpaper covered with horses and frontier style main streets (and they stock practical extras such as free diapers and tampons). There are dozens of bathroom stalls, but it’s worth noting that there are no shower suites. Similarly, there is a work desk, but there is no designated office space or telephone booth.

For families with babies and young children, there are two wellness rooms with table variations, while for young people with hearts there is a small game room with wooden shuffleboard tables.

Food and drink

Like all United Lounges, this previous post base offers a curated buffet-style spread that spins over the seasons. Breakfast fees include yogurt (with fruit and granola), bagels (with toppings such as red onions and sliced tomatoes), and hot egg dishes (for example, scrambled egg white and frittatus). Later that day, the focus shifts to salads, sandwiches and cheese, with a handful of hot dishes, including pasta sprinkled with pork and vegetables.

Additional self-service stations are scattered, with sandwiches and snacks available on-site, including plantain chips and gummy bears.

There are two full-service bars, one for each level, each with its own unique atmosphere. The bar on the ground floor looks like a trendy brewery in downtown Denver’s brewery. The ceiling, concrete flooring, communal style seating exposes a moody atmosphere. The second floor is like a modern cocktail lounge with blonde wood, floor-to-ceiling windows and lounge-style seating.

Brewed in Golden near Colorado, Coors claims several tap handles, similar to beer from Breckenridge Brewing and Denver Beer Co. (craft beers cost an extra, as well as premium wines and spirits).

How to get to the new United Lounge

The new United Club location in Denver is located on the west side of the B Concourse near Gate B32 and is open daily from 5am to 9pm. Customers with United Club membership, former pass, Star Alliance gold status, or qualifying premium cabin seats will have access to United Club locations.
