On Thursday evening, the Colts held their first preseason game of 2025. They were on the road to face the Ravens. During Indianapolis’ first offensive drive, QB Anthony Richardson was injured by his thrower.
He ended the game and was replaced by Daniel Jones. Luckily, ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that Anthony Richardson only received a dislocated little finger. The X-rays are back clean and I have the chance to practice at the 23 year old on Saturday. The Colts are off on Friday after Thursday’s preseason game.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Colts used their fourth overall pick to select QB Anthony Richardson from Florida. A college graduate, Richardson was one of the most interesting players in the draft. His raw talent and skills could not be denied. However, the younger QB had no starting experience that most first round picks already have. Anyway, the Colts eclipsed Richardson’s draft.
It was an overwhelming start for Anthony Richardson throughout the two seasons. The young QB has been battling injuries early in his career. As a rookie in 2023, Richardson only played four games with the Colts. He missed 13 games due to end-of-season shoulder surgery. In 2024, Richardson started 11 of the Colts’ 17 games. He missed several games due to injuries and was even benched for veteran QB Joe Flaco.
Let me explain why this is 100% at Anthony Richardson and not a line or an RB. https://t.co/lwya8dbb9f pic.twitter.com/m6u9rxkotf

Heading into the 2025 season, Anthony Richardson will be in a QB battle with Daniel Jones. He previously was the Giants’ starting quarterback in 2024 before he was released. On the team’s first official depth chart, the first QB was listed as Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones. On Thursday evening, the Colts were on the road for their first preseason game of 2025.
Anthony Richardson suffered from a dislocated little finger and had to finish the game. After the X-rays return cleanly, Richardson will have the opportunity to return to practice on Saturday. This is positive news for Indianapolis. Their fans waited breathlessly, knowing that their first QB would not miss a fair amount of time. The Colts’ first game of the 2025 season will be in Week 1 and at the Miami Dolphins home.
