American Airlines flyers have more ways to reach Europe and South America next spring and summer thanks to major international route expansion plans.

On August 7th, the airline announced its summer 2026 schedule. This includes six new long distance routes. Brand new service to Prague. The only non-stop flight from the US to Budapest. Seasonal routes have been added to Athens, Milan and Zurich. Expansion service to Buenos Aires.

We’ll go into detail about the new routes (sold on August 11th via AA.com or the carrier’s mobile app) and what travelers can expect at each destination.

Newly expanded international routes in the United States for 2026

Philadelphia to Budapest, Hungary

Summer Seasonal Service from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) will compete in the Boeing 787-8S on May 21, 2026. Unless another carrier announces a new route, this will be the only non-stop flight from the US to Hungary. This route makes it easier to reach one of Central Europe’s most historic and increasingly popular cities, with two different aspects: the castle district and hiking of the hillsides of Buda, the pest Art Nouveau Café, the Jewish district and the iconic parliament building. Budapest is also known for its hot baths such as Zecheny and Gerreld, as well as its growing food scene, ranging from traditional Hungarian markets to Michelin-starred menus.

Philadelphia to Prague, Czech Republic

Another seasonal service from Philadelphia to Prague Krav Havel Airport (PRG) debuted on May 21, with 787‑8 serving every day. Prague is one of the most romantic cities in Europe. Watch the astronomical clock of Old Town Square hit time while drinking pilsner in a 15th-century beer hall, along with cobblestone streets lined with Gothic spires. There is a direct train that runs between Budapest and Prague within 7 hours. Therefore, travelers can easily visit both cities on one trip. They can even fly from one city or another via the new Philadelphia route in America.
