On July 16, the US Senate voted to hand over $9 billion in spending cuts demanded by President Donald Trump.
This measure was passed by 51-48 votes. Two Republicans, Sen. Susan Collins (R Maine) and Lisa Markowski (R-Alaska), voted against the bill. Although he voted against the bill in a previous procedural vote, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY.) decided to support the bill. Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) missed the vote because he was in the hospital.
