In an effort to improve user experience and provide access to Gemini’s advanced AI service, Google has made significant progress in integrating this feature across its platforms. The latest changes include the introduction of a dedicated chatbot in Workspace, a standalone app available in app stores, and a Gemini toggle feature in the Google app for select iOS users.
However, while these updates were well received by iOS users, Android users felt left out. Addressing this issue, Google is reportedly working on an update to the Google Android app that will bring the Gemini switch to all Android smartphone users.
The news of this upcoming feature was revealed by AsembleDebug in collaboration with PiunikaWeb (via India Today). According to reports, the underdeveloped Gemini switcher for Google Android apps provides polished animations for polished transitions between standard search and Gemini, thus improving the overall user experience.
According to the report, recently leaked images and videos revealed expected features of the upcoming update, showcasing refreshed shortcuts for features such as Gallery, Translate, Homework, and Sing. These shortcuts were mentioned a month ago, and users with access to the latest beta versions of Google apps are already testing them.
The specific version of the app that will introduce this feature has not yet been revealed, but PiunikaWeb suggests it could be made available to the general public within weeks to months. However, it is expected that users participating in the beta program will gain access over time, although this cannot be guaranteed at this time.
Currently, Android users can access Gemini through a dedicated, standalone app, while iPhone users can utilize the integrated Google app. Nevertheless, the upcoming introduction of the Gemini toggle in the Google Android app marks a significant improvement, allowing you to easily switch between conventional search and the comprehensive AI chatbot offered by Gemini.
Additionally, Google offers a Gemini mobile app, providing users with various ways to interact with its powerful artificial intelligence models. These include multimodal onboarding, innovative assistance, information access and travel assistance to meet a variety of user needs and preferences.
