The Edmonton Oilers are without Starman Zach Hyman for the remaining NHL playoff matches after the Canadian underwent surgery for an injury in a match of four against the Dallas Stars.
How was Zach Heyman injured?
The Edmonton Oilers star was exiled in Game 4 against the Dallas Star after a relatively tame clash with the relatively tame Mason Marchment.
It was obvious to see this was quite painful for Heyman as he was rushing towards the Oilers dressing room.
After further examinations from an Edmonton expert, Hyman required surgery on his right wrist, which was reportedly completed on Wednesday, May 28th.
This injury never got worse as Hyman played brilliantly.
Will Zach Hyman miss the NHL playoffs?
After Highman was injured in Game 4, Edmonton Oilers fans began to worry about whether Starwinger could compete in the rest of the playoff matches.
However, his injury requires surgery, confirms that the 32-year-old is not available for the coming weeks/months, and the five-time Stanley Cup winner will need to find a strong alternative.
This isn’t an easy task as the Canadian is a key figure in the Oilers dressing room and Victor Arvidson is set to be the man who intervenes in Heyman’s absence.
Oilers head coach Chris Noblauch spoke about Highman’s recent injuries and admitted that his side would miss their Starman, but that gives other players an opportunity to show their worth.
Knoblauch said:He puts everything out there. We’re looking at what he’s done in the playoffs over the past two years. Last year, he scored 70 goals and many big important goals in the playoffs throughout the season. And this year we will mark important goals, the physical department.
“How many hits he’s made and his two-way play was incredible. Now we’re missing him, so we need others to step up.
“Zack is going to be a huge hole, we have a lot of depth that guys can come and step up. We were very fortunate to have the depth of last season. This year it probably outweighs that a little. ”
Will the Edmonton Oilers reach the Stanley Cup final in Game 5?
The Edmonton Oilers controlled their own fate against the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals, winning three of the opening four games and needed another victory to reach the Stanley Cup final.
After losing the opening match 6-3, the Oilers began tweeting about the possible thrashing in this series against Dallas, and needed a big response in their next encounter.
This is exactly what happened as the Oilers won three consecutive wins, 3-0 in Game 2, 6-1 in Game 3 and 4-1 in Game 4.
To make such a dominant performance, they have only won one victory from the Oilers reaching consecutive Stanley Cup finals and approaching 35 years of waiting for the sport’s biggest trophy.
The 2025 NHL Draft will appear in the coming weeks, with Edmonton earning one of the final slots if he reaches the Stanley Cup final again.
