‘The Amazing Maurice’ producer signs first-look feature deal with ReDefine Originals

British production company Cantilever Media is partnering with international VFX and animation company Redefine Originals to redefine in a first look co-production agreement for animated feature films for the kids and family markets.

The two companies will bring projects into a combined venture with the aim of creating two to three features a year over the first three years.

Redefine will become the project’s studio, produced by Cantilever Media, and Cantilever’s distribution company Kazoo Films will win the UK rights.

Redefine Originals is owned by British and Indian VFX giant DNEG, with fellow DNEG Group Company Prime Focus Studios serving as co-production partners at feature slate.

Cantilever and Redefine are already collaborating with animation features bollywoof For Sky Cinema on Newscope Films, it was released in the 2027 quarter.

Based on the book by Terry Pratchett, Toby Jenkel and Florian Westermans Amazing Maurice It debuted in the UK as a Sky original film in 2022.

It came up with a scheme that would make the perfect money, following the street cat and his rat gang. The voice cast was led by Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, David Theuris, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, Hugh Bonneville, Rob Brydon, Peter Serafinowitz and David Tennant.

Also included in Cantilever Media’s production slate Amazing Maurice 2 It was produced in collaboration with the German film Produk. and Unstablejointly produced with Carpe Diem Productions in Canada.

“We already have a great relationship with Redefine Originals, and this was the logical next step to formalizing this into a first look co-production agreement,” said Andrew Baker, CEO of Cantilever Media. “For cantilevers, it is exciting to sign a deal with an animation studio based in the UK and India. This can be worked with the UK distribution company Kazoo Films, which will allow you to work on your own projects from development to release. We look forward to unveiling new projects.”
