A new YouGov survey shows that the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Italy’s favorability towards Israel is at the lowest level in Western Europe since 2016.

The study interviewed 8,625 people from these six major Western European countries between November 2016 and May 2025.

Germany’s net favoritism towards Israel (-44), France (-48), and Denmark (-54) has reached its lowest level since YouGov began tracking in 2016, while citizens in Italy (-52) and Spain (-55) are similar at the lowest or lowest level at joints from the outdated Timespuan from 2021.

Many Europeans in these six countries believe that Israel is right to send troops to Gaza, but they believe that it is too far away and too many civilian casualties.

This opinion gained the most support in Germany with 40%, with Denmark at 39% and the UK at 38%.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas committed a series of terrorist attacks against Israel, killing almost 1,200 people. They also needed more than 250 hostages.

In response, Israel launched a massive air and ground forces campaign, with more than 54,000 Palestinians almost killed women and children, according to Hamas authorities.

Food supply is also blocked, with integrated food security stages (IPCs) Latest Reports Has 500,000 people said they will face starvation.

Between 7% and 18% of European respondents say they have the most sympathy for the Israeli side, the lowest number in most countries since Hamas attacked.

In contrast, between 18% and 33% say they have more sympathy for the Palestinian side.

Only in Germany, the numbers on each side are similar, with 17% in Israel and 18% in Palestine.

Although permanent peace in the Middle East appears to be far from Europeans, the French people are most optimistic that both sides will put the differences aside within the next decade.

Danes, on the other hand, are least optimistic at 15%.

In all countries, the opinion that peace is realistic has declined in popularity between 4-10% points.
