Alaska Airlines has announced plans to launch its first non-stop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Rome’s Leonardo Daviumicino Airport (FCO) in May 2026. Access to airline long-haul aircraft.
“Rome has been at the top of the list since unveiling its new global gateway from Seattle. Guests have been hoping for easy ways to get to Italy for years and are excited to offer it to the Northwest and beyond.
The new route operates four times a week, departing Seattle at 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and arrives in the Eternal City at 1:45pm the following day. We will return from Rome at 3:45pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and land at 6pm local time. The airline has not yet shared whether the flights are seasonal or year-round, but they said it will take place on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
This marks a third widebody international route from Seattle’s Global Gateway, served by the Alaska Airlines Group (the parent company of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian and the parent company of Hawaiian). Other routes will be to Narita International Airport (NRT) in Japan, which was released on May 12, 2025, and Tokyo (NRT), located in Seoul, Korea’s Incheon International Airport (ICN).

While no other airlines currently connect Seattle to Rome, Delta currently fly non-stop from Seattle to Amsterdam, London and Paris.
“As Delta as Alaska’s top rival in Seattle, all eyes are now looking at everything, whether the Delta will return on the non-stop Roman route from Seattle,” Kill said. “Given the size of the Delta and its aggressive attitude in the market, it’s not surprising to see such a move in the near future.”
