Trump, Sheinbaum Discuss Economic and Security Issues in 7th Phone Call

The White House called for an important issue that it discussed on May 22 with President Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sinbaum.

“President Trump and Sinbaum discussed economic and security issues,” White House deputy reporter Anna Kelly wrote in an email to the Epoch Times.

Earlier that day, Sinbaum said at a daily press conference that he had made another call with Trump to discuss trade issues.

“And we’re continuing to talk about anything, especially on the issue of trade, but we’re continuing to negotiate, having good relationships and good communication,” the Mexican president said.

Sinbaum said he has made seven calls with Trump so far.

“In the beginning we continued talking about trade and tariffs. Please remember that in the automotive industry there is a very priority situation for Mexico. She said.

She discussed other issues without specifying which issues, and said that both governments are working on issues of steel and aluminum, but revealed that she “don’t want to say more until an agreement is reached.”

The call between the two presidents came after Sheinbaum Meeting On Monday, he was accompanied by Mexican new US ambassador, Ronald Johnson, on the presentation of his qualifications at the National Palace.

Later that day, Johnson I promised “We’ll work with her and her team on priorities such as security, borders, transition.”
Shanebaum I said On May 20th, at her morning press conference, they discussed trade, immigration and security issues and maintained cooperation between the US and Mexico.

“We’re going to invite them to come to Mexico on this occasion,” Sinbaum added.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio Confirmed At a hearing in front of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on May 21, he plans to travel to Mexico immediately to address the issue of security cooperation.

“We’ve focused mainly on Mexico two things… one is trade, not my department… and the other is security cooperation,” Rubio said.

Also, on May 22, the Mexican president announced that Mexican Economic Secretary Marcelo Ebrard would travel to Washington for a meeting as part of negotiations between the two countries.
