Toronto Maple Leafs star William Nylander responded to Florida Panthers’ Matthew Tokachuk as the two continue into intense playoff battles.
William Nylander continues his verbal battle with Matthew Tokachuk
After four games between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers, the series went level 2-2, with the Maple Leafs winning two opening games in Canada, and the Panthers won in the evening in two games at Sunrise, Florida.
Their latest meeting took place on May 11th as the Panthers scored a 2-0 shutout victory thanks to goals from Carter Verhege and Sam Bennett.
However, the main topic came from Panthers star Matthew Tokachuk as he saw the 27-year-old screaming in the direction of William Nylander, one of the highest paying players in the NHL.
Tkachuk cried: “I guess who I’ll get. I’m going to get you.”
This came at a passionate moment in the game. Both sides began to bring the game to a boiling point, with Max Domi smacking Alexander Barkov on the side.
Eetu Luostarinen and Aaron Ekblad quickly rushed to show their support for the captain and were punished for fraud alongside Max Domi.
Tkachuk’s message to Nylander was clearly received by Maple Leafs Star when he responded to an offensive proposal in a post-match interview.
Nylander said: “He’s probably going to do everything he can to get players out of the game. The next game will be fun. That means 2-2, it’s going to be a long series. That’s in our minds.”
The fifth meeting between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 18th at Scottia Bank Arena at 7pm ET.
