Patronis was Florida’s Chief Financial Officer and served as a fire marshall under Gov. Ron DeSantis.
PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Repurican physician maintains control of Florida’s First Congressional District as Jimmy Patronis was declared the winner of the special election on April 1 to replace former Congressman Matt Getz.
The poll closed at 7pm on the CT, Patronis was declared the winner 22 minutes after the vote ended, with 74% of the vote counting, and Patronis led more than 52% of that tally. At the same time, Democrat Gay Valimont was catching up with 45.7% of the vote.
Patronis’ race was run primarily in Republican districts. It consists mostly of Escambia, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties, with registered Republican voters surpassing 102,948 to 65,762 votes. 88,875-26,122; 92,293-22,299, respectively. Escabmia’s voter role was last updated on March 1st, while Okaloosa and Santa Rosa Rolls were updated on Election Day.
6th Assembly District
The GOP victory was another statewide victory in Florida’s 6th Congressional District, with Sen. Randy Fein being declared the special election winner to replace former Rep. Michael Waltz.
The vote ended an hour ago and the fine was declared a few minutes after the fine was closed.
President Donald Trump approved both candidates shortly after Gaetz and Waltz announced they would resign to accept their cabinet nominations. In fact, after Trump approved Patronis, he even officially announced his candidacy.
“When President Trump asks you to run for Congress, you don’t say no,” Patronis previously told the Epoch Times in December 2024.
When Patronis and Fine take their seats in the lower chamber of the council, the GOP will ultimately win a majority of 220 seats in November 2024. Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) has left her seat open to pursue the appointment of the UN ambassador, but it was expected that Trump will withdraw the appointment to secure a majority in the House.
Patronis served as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer and Fire Service under Gov. Ron DeSantis until Election Day.
His choice for his successor was Joe Gluters. Trump also supported Gluter because of his position, although the decision wasn’t up to him.
“Whoever my successor is (he or she) is trying to inherit a great group of civil servants who love nothing but helping fellow Floridians,” Patronis said in a farewell letter to Floridians on social media platform X.
“It has been a lifelong honor to be useful as your CFO. I cannot thank enough people for your support over the years, and if I can do this last blessing to me, I can keep our first responders in prayer at night.”
