Corey Perry gave his thoughts on Conor McDavid’s suspension as the NHL handed the Edmonton Oilers player a three-game ban.
Corey Perry is furious in the NHL over Conner McDavid suspension
The Edmonton Oilers collided with the NHL player safety department after Conor McDavid received a three-game ban due to a cross check at Conor Garland.
In a recent interview, Perry showed issues with how NHL players were dealing with, claiming that the league wasn’t doing enough to “protect the superstars.”
Perry said: “Why don’t we protect our superstars? All other leagues do that – Mahomes, LeBron… They protect their superstars.”
These ideas, like the decision to ban Garland, have split opinions, which was highlighted by another member of the Oilers family.
Oilers host Bob Stauffer was clearly upset by his Monday show decision and took him to social media to highlight his temperament towards his decision.
Stauffer said: “The NFL gets it. The NHL doesn’t get it. The NFL protects the stars. The NHL wants the stars to play through ‘CR’.
The second tweet from Stauffer reads: “We can’t accuse the NHL of protecting the stars. Conor McDavid of @edmontonoilers is currently sitting in 197th with a penalty drawn per 60 people at 0.89 (minimum 10 gp).”
McDavid’s three game ban sparked debate over whether the NHL should hand out more generous punishments and halt the Oilers captain for one game.
However, there are different views on the NHL’s decision to ban McDavid in three games, as Edmonton Journal contributor Terry Jones gave a different opinion.
He said: “McDavid’s suspension is good. A massive response around the world of sports depicts the NHL as a joke. Owner is Pis –D. Ingings. Must be hosted. Protect the stars.
