Emmanuel Macron announces €2 billion in additional military aid for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Ukrainian Voldymi Zelenki in Paris on Wednesday night to prepare a summit for Willing’s Union, a group of countries ready to offer long-term security assurances to Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged an additional 2 billion euros with military aid to Ukraine.

The announcement came on Wednesday evening at a press conference in Paris. High Stakes International Summit Long-term security in Ukraine is scheduled for Thursday morning.

New packages include a variety Military equipmentMilan anti-tank missiles, mica missiles for Mirage Fighter Jets, mistral air defense missiles, armored vehicles, ammunition, drones, and more.

The troublesome issue of peacekeeping forces

Macron also emphasized that Thursday’s summit with Paris’ world leaders will address “future forms of the Ukrainian military.”

The discussion aims to ensure that Ukraine can resist new attacks and maintain long-term security.

According to French leaders, strengthening the Ukrainian army is a major priority, with potential deployments of peacekeepers still remaining behind the frontline as a secondary measure. These troops can be stationed in “strategic towns” or “base.”

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he hopes the US will maintain its commitment to implementing a ceasefire when speaking alongside Macron.

“There was some debate with the US in Saudi Arabia, allowing us to unlock the US aid and information that we needed,” he said. “We hope and believe that America is strong enough to carry out a partial ceasefire.”

On Tuesday, the US said it brokered a contract that would end. Battle in the Black Sea Consultation between Ukraine and Russia.

However, Moscow later issued a statement saying it would only respect the ceasefire if sanctions that had been lifted by banks and exports were lifted.

“Too early” to lift sanctions against Russia

Macron rejected the idea of Relaxation of sanctions against Russiaexplains it as “too early.”

“Peace by strength is not about eliminating sanctions; lifting them depends solely on Russia’s choice to comply with international law,” Macron explained in the Trump administration’s clear jab.

On Tuesday, the US announced it would ease sanctions targeting Russian agricultural trade.

However, Zelenskyy reiterated the need to tighten sanctions against Moscow.

“Sansions against Russia are effective and must be strengthened,” he urged, arguing that “only power-based diplomacy is effective.”
