Macron says France will order more Rafale fighter jets in nuclear deterrence drive

French President Emmanuel Macron has also announced the modernization of one of the major airs of the country with the latest nuclear missile technology.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday pledged to increase orders for Rafale’s fighter jets and invest 1.5 billion euros in air force bases as part of the country’s nuclear deterrence.

The announcement came during a visit to the Air Force Base at Luxel Le Bain Baines in eastern France. This is an important strategic site for the country’s air force.

“The world we live in is becoming increasingly dangerous and increasingly uncertain,” Macron said.

“Our country and our continent must continue to defend, equip and prepare if we want to avoid war,” he warned, noting the growing military threat in Russia.

Two new Lafale squadrons (a total of about 40 aircraft) will be established on the Luxeuil-Les-Bains base and will receive 1.5 billion euros of modernization funds, Macron said.

By 2035, Luxeuil-Les-Bains will be the first base to host the next generation of Rafale Fighter Jets. Polar nuclear missile.

Macron has spearheaded the move towards a more robust, popular European defence framework in recent weeks.

The French president says he is ready to use French nuclear weapons to protect Europe. Only France and the UK have their own nuclear weapons on the continent.

After a visit to Luxeuil-Les-Bains, Macron is scheduled to travel to Berlin to meet with resigned German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and his successor, Friedrich Merz.
