NEW DELHI: Today, nearly 70% of early adopters have expressed skepticism about the future role of artificial intelligence (AI), which is expected to disrupt the lives of common people as well as bring innovations in retail and fashion, digital twins, and scenarios, according to a report released on Tuesday Ericsson ConsumerLab. “Research shows that more than 60 percent of even the most ardent fans of artificial intelligence believe they will not have full control over how it affects their lives in the 2030s,” the study said.
According to the study, early adopters – a term used to describe a cohort of people who have fully adopted recent technologies – were asked to evaluate 120 digital service ideas in 15 areas, from fashion and entertainment to work life and simulations of their own behavior.
Moreover, the study says that friend clone videos, future simulating videos, personal digital assistants and AI-powered beauty surgeries are just some of the ways this technology could impact everyday life in the 2030s .
Respondents believe that by the 2030s, approximately 80% of consumers could apply AI simulations to make life-changing decisions, such as buying a home or stock, as well as make lifestyle changes based on health simulations.
Early adopters also see AI as playing a major role in assisted child care in developing children’s skills and believe AI will play a significant role in ensuring good employment, Ericsson ConsumerLab said.
“Consumer expectations are vital because they also influence the ability of network traffic to support each device’s future data usage,” said Michael Björn, Research Program Director, Ericsson Consumer & IndustryLab.
“Another insight is the concerns of early adopters, including the biggest supporters of artificial intelligence, about the future control of artificial intelligence in their personal lives. This shows that companies working with artificial intelligence must take into account consumers’ concerns when developing solutions,” he added.
Research shows that over 60% of even the most ardent fans of artificial intelligence believe that in the 2030s they will not have full control over how it will impact their lives. Meanwhile, only about 37% of AI hopefuls and 27% of AI fearful people believe they will have full control over how AI is used in their lives by 2030.
The study identified 10 key trends that include artificial customers, generative fashion, conscious scenarios, human digital twins, programmed offspring, AI management, disempowered workers, data disruption, and the fear that more interconnected AIs could start developing their own program, as well as key AI maintainers.
Nearly 95% of respondents believe that at least some aspects of these ten trends will become a reality.
The findings are based on a survey of responses from 6,500 early adopters in 13 cities around the world about artificial intelligence scenarios in the 2030s.
