Festival programmers viewed more than 10,000 submissions, including features, shorts, episodes and games, 28% of which came from filmmakers in the Los Angeles area. Half of the lineup of 141 features and shorts are by women, trans, and non-binary directors, 41.4% by BIPOC creators, and 9.7% by creators with visible and invisible disabilities.

Slamdance is back with its Made In LA program, highlighting 12 full-length and 23 short-form projects from the local community. Market Monday on February 23rd will also be held, featuring work programmed by industry veteran Ted Hope of the NonDē Film movement, which focuses on helping independent filmmakers find a sustainable film ecosystem that is independent of corporations.

Femme Film Friday on February 20th will feature screenings of films by women, transgender, and non-binary directors and a panel discussion with female independent producers titled “Navigating Self-Care as a Producer.” Writer’s Day on February 21st will feature a panel focused on screenwriting, and Slamdance’s Student Symposium and Programmer’s Day on February 22nd will feature workshops and panels. The festival will be held virtually on Slamdance Channel from February 24th to March 6th.

All films selected in the Narrative Features and Documentary Features competition are undistributed directorial debuts in the United States and have budgets of less than $1 million. The festival will be held at the Directors Guild of America, Landmark Sunset and 2220 Arts in Hollywood, with the closing ceremony at the Egyptian Theatre.
