Overdue actor Nargis is still counted among the most pretty actors of the Hindi film industry. During her film career, she made a series of hit films. Her collaboration with showman Raj Kapoor was the biggest hit of all time. Their on-screen chemistry was so great that its effect was perceptible behind the screen as well. The couple had been dating for a long time. Nargis’ collaboration with Raj Kapoor began in the 1940s, but the adorable couple ended their collaboration in the 1960s. The actors, who made 16 films together, were no longer seen working together. But what went wrong?
Nargis’ contribution to RK Studio
Nargis, born in Kolkata as Fatima Rashid, became involved with the world of acting as a child, which is where she got her screen name. When she was 16, Nargis met Raj Kapoor. The two were first seen together in the film ‘Aag’ and the film was a huge success. Subsequently, the pairing of Raj Kapoor and Nargis became a hit on screen. And then she appeared in many memorable films of RK Studio. Together, they made many hit films including Andaz, Awara, Barsaat, Aag, Aah and Shree 420. Kapoor and Nargis worked together until 1956, but this was the period when the pretty couple’s relationship turned sour.
Why did the Raj-Nargis couple break up?
Raj Kapoor and Nargis’ relationship lasted for almost 9 years. The actress wanted to settle down after dating the star actor, but Raj Kapoor already had a wife and children. The time came when Nargis’ patience ran out. The actress also started feeling that she was no longer playing the same role in Raj Kapoor’s films as she used to be. Nargis was the main character of the film Shree 420, she was given a not very glamorous role. However, her role as Nadiri stole all the limelight.
The last film was a huge hit for Nargis and Raj Kapoor
